About the Role

Are you searching for a dependable career that offers support, growth, and the chance to make a daily impact? Join Brisbane City Council as a Bus Driver and become an essential part of keeping Brisbane mobile. Our organization operates one of Australia's largest and most varied bus networks, where drivers provide safe, reliable transportation for residents, commuters, and visitors alike. This position offers independence on the road, combined with the backing of an inclusive team at one of our seven depots: Carina, Garden City, Toowong, Sherwood, Willawong, Virginia, and Eagle Farm. Enjoy a dynamic work environment outside of a traditional office setting.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport passengers around Brisbane with professionalism and care.
  • Provide friendly and dependable customer service throughout each journey.
  • Operate independently while maintaining communication and support from depot and coordination teams.
  • Contribute positively to a safe, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Possess Australian work rights.
  • Hold an Australian 'C' class license for a minimum of three years.
  • Be capable of obtaining Driver Authorisation ('GENR' class) and a Heavy Rigid (HR) license; training is provided for these qualifications.
  • Maintain a clean driving record: no more than six demerit points in the last three years, and no suspended license or good behaviour periods in the past four years (SPER exceptions apply).
  • Be available Monday through Friday during the eight-week training program.

Training and Career Development

We offer paid training, including assistance in obtaining necessary licenses to kickstart your bus driving career. Our supportive teams are committed to your growth, providing continuous guidance and fostering opportunities for advancement into roles like depot operations, training, or leadership.

Work Conditions and Benefits

  • Casual hourly pay at $43.81 inclusive of 25% casual loading plus superannuation.
  • Temporary full-time traineeships of two years remunerated at AUD $1,332 per week gross plus superannuation.
  • Additional penalties, overtime, and allowances are applicable beyond the base rates.
  • Stable employment with excellent benefits and job security.

Additional Information

You’ll be part of a team that values autonomy, customer service, and making a meaningful community impact. Our operators describe the role as rewarding and fulfilling with a changing environment and supportive colleagues who foster learning and confidence.

Application Process

We maintain an Expression of Interest system to form a pool of potential drivers for upcoming intakes. Interested candidates will create a profile and submit a resume. Qualified applicants will be contacted for the next recruitment cycle.
