Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable Building Services Attendant responsible for maintaining cleanliness and performing general upkeep across our community, residential, and office properties. This hands-on role balances janitorial and building maintenance tasks, requiring independent work with moderate supervision. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Victoria, BC, with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Key Duties

  • Maintain buildings and surrounding properties in a clean and organized state.
  • Conduct routine cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming floors; sanitizing and restocking restrooms; dusting furniture and equipment; cleaning windows, mirrors, and partitions.
  • Prepare and mix cleaning solutions as needed.
  • Set up rooms and equipment for classes or events.
  • Maintain accurate records including logs, key registers, and inventory of janitorial and maintenance supplies.
  • Assist with ordering and inventory management.
  • Perform general maintenance like carpentry (building repairs, patching, painting), plumbing duties (unclogging, replacing fixtures), and landscape upkeep (mowing, trimming, pruning, deck maintenance).
  • Support scheduled maintenance programs for building systems.
  • Flexibly adjust task priority based on organizational needs.
  • Carry out other assigned responsibilities and projects as required.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Successful Criminal Record Check.
  • Possession of Emergency First Aid certification is advantageous.
  • Physically fit to perform required duties, including lifting and transporting heavy items.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Willingness to remain on site outside normal hours for emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Sound knowledge of standard cleaning methods and use of equipment like vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over extended periods.
  • Completion of Building Service Worker Level 1 or WHMIS certification is a plus.
  • Dependable, practical, organized, independent, approachable, professional, and adaptable to changing priorities.
