Job description
Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a skilled and detail-focused Building Information Modeling (BIM) Coordinator and Modeler to manage and develop digital building models throughout all phases of construction projects. This role integrates BIM modeling, multidisciplinary coordination, clash detection, and quality assurance to guarantee the delivery of precise and coordinated project outputs. You will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and project leaders to create dependable BIM models, solve design conflicts, enhance information sharing, and facilitate effective project execution.
Key Duties
- Create, update, and maintain precise three-dimensional BIM models encompassing architectural, structural, and building service elements.
- Oversee BIM modeling activities involving architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines ensuring seamless integration.
- Evaluate design drawings, technical specifications, and project criteria prior to model development to ensure compliance.
- Ensure models adhere to established standards, guidelines, naming conventions, and information requirements.
- Conduct clash detection and coordination assessments to identify and address conflicts within building systems.
- Collaborate with design teams to resolve coordination challenges effectively.
- Lead BIM coordination meetings involving architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
- Monitor clash reports and issue registers, track progress on resolving coordination problems.
- Produce coordinated construction documents including drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and schedules derived from BIM models.
- Ensure ongoing model accuracy and consistency across design and construction phases.
- Integrate specific discipline models into federated BIM models to support thorough coordination reviews.
- Manage exchange of models and shared data through Common Data Environments (CDEs).
- Support preparation and enforcement of BIM execution plans and project information protocols.
- Establish and maintain model templates, reusable components, families, libraries, and parameters.
- Validate model geometry, properties, classifications, and associated data against project requirements.
- Perform routine audits to detect errors, duplications, and inconsistencies within BIM models.
- Assist in quantifying materials, preparing schedules, and estimating preliminary costs from model data.
- Facilitate incorporation of design changes into models and documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive revision histories, model and drawing records, and document control logs.
- Provide coordinated model information to construction teams and respond to technical inquiries.
- Review shop drawings, fabrication models, and BIM submissions related to construction.
- Collaborate with site engineers to address discrepancies between models and actual site conditions.
- Help develop as-built models and record drawings based on verified construction data.
- Apply BIM standards and ISO 19650 principles as required.
- Assist with advanced BIM applications such as 4D scheduling and 5D cost integration where applicable.
- Identify and propose improvements to modeling workflows and coordination methods.
- Support visualization, design review sessions, and technical presentations.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure delivery timelines and milestones are met.
- Maintain clear communication within multidisciplinary teams to resolve design and coordination issues promptly.
- Stay current with emerging BIM technologies, standards, and best practices in digital construction.
