Job description
About the Role
Strata Community Insurance is dedicated to becoming the preferred insurance partner for the strata community, driven by the expertise of its workforce and strong partnerships. We are expanding our Building and Assessment Services (BAS) team and are seeking skilled Building Estimators to join us in Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct validations of repair scopes and quotes for strata residential and commercial insurance claims, ensuring alignment with the Product Disclosure Statement.
- Ensure scopes correspond to damage causes, segregate labor and material costs, and validate competitive market pricing across metropolitan, regional, and remote areas.
- Detect and address any inconsistencies such as over-scoping, pricing discrepancies, or leakage constructively.
- Verify trade certificates, licenses, insurance, and safety credentials like ISO 45001 or CM3, and assess completed works for compliance with building codes, quality standards, and Work Health and Safety.
- Facilitate supplier onboarding and offboarding, evaluate builder performance, provide structured feedback, and manage dispute resolution.
- Utilize claims platforms such as Wilbur, capturing structured data, and help enhance validation processes, templates, and technical standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in insurance-driven building assessments, restoration, or repair projects in residential, strata, and commercial sectors.
- Background in field or desk-based assessment, estimating, or project management of repair jobs.
- Practical knowledge of builder estimating tools and insurer/vendor portals like Prime Ecosystems, enData, or Crunchwork.
- Strong understanding of construction pricing and rates within key Australian states, as well as thorough knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian Standards, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to harmonize relations among builders, adjusters, and internal teams, including dispute resolution driven by reason and proper governance.
- Relevant qualifications in building and construction, such as trade certificates, Certificate IV, Diploma, or licensing as a builder or supervisor, or equivalent validated experience.
Organizational Direction and Culture
We are embracing a genuine technological evolution that incorporates data and AI to improve claims and building repairs management. Our new Partner Performance Framework and an advanced, AI-enabled supplier portal are part of this progress. Users joining now will actively contribute to shaping the BAS team’s development.
Community Engagement
The role involves significant interaction within the strata community by collaborating with builders and restorers to facilitate the restoration of homes for those in need.

- Flexible working environment supporting a balance between onsite community and office presence.
- Personalized career development programs, including training and professional qualifications.
- Community Connections leave for volunteering alongside paid parental leave and leave purchase options.
- Financial benefits such as automatic enrollment in a Salary Continuance insurance scheme and salary sacrifice plans.
