Primary Responsibilities
- Manage all purchasing activities for assigned product lines and coordinate completely with external suppliers.
- Apply Wolseley Canada’s purchasing philosophies and best practices in daily tasks.
- Evaluate items for procurement and suggest improvements when potential changes are identified.
- Collaborate closely with branch sales teams to support purchasing decisions adhering to change protocols.
- Handle special orders and ensure effective order processing and expediting from vendors and distribution centers.
- Efficiently enter purchase orders into the system accurately and timely.
- Identify areas for process enhancement and devise effective solutions.
- Maintain inventory through proactive management including identifying surplus and return opportunities.
- Understand the balance between investment levels, customer service, stock turnover, and costs including landed costs.
- Generate special reports as requested by management.
- Maintain a strong customer service focus in communication and relationships with branch contacts.
- Interact professionally representing the company and ensure excellent customer service standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Supply Chain team to follow purchase orders through to completion.
- Comply fully with all company policies, safety rules, and regulations.
- Assist during physical inventory counts and provide support with administrative duties as necessary.
Candidate Qualifications
- Proven knowledge of purchasing, warehouse, and inventory control practices and procedures.
- Ability to make sound and intelligent buying decisions backed by analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of freight and transportation logistics.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent teamwork skills supported by strong interpersonal communication.
- Organized with the ability to prioritize workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
Additional Details
Salary is competitive at $70,000 annually plus 4% profit-sharing plan, contingent upon qualifications and experience.
