Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled BMS Estimator to join our Sydney team to develop technically sound and commercially competitive tenders for Building Management Systems projects. This position involves collaborating with multiple teams to prepare precise, cost-effective, and value-driven project estimates.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to create accurate estimates for BMS projects.
- Generate detailed bills of materials, labor costs, and comprehensive project cost breakdowns.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to verify design requirements and validate technical assumptions.
- Engage with suppliers and manufacturers for pricing, product comparisons, and alternative solution evaluations.
- Support tender submissions, clarifications, and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate closely with business development and project management staff to align proposals with client needs.
- Detect project risks, scope deficiencies, and possible cost variations during estimates.
- Keep abreast of evolving BMS platforms, market pricing trends, and competitor offerings.
- Assist in refining estimating tools, templates, and internal procedures continuously.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a technically proficient estimator experienced with building automation and HVAC controls, able to interpret technical documents and balance cost and performance considerations effectively.
- Demonstrated expertise in estimating for BMS, building automation, or HVAC control projects.
- In-depth technical knowledge of BMS system architectures, field devices, networking, and system integration.
- Competency in reading mechanical, electrical, and controls schematics.
- Experience working with open communication protocols like BACnet and Modbus.
- Strong commercial insight with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Efficient organizational capabilities to juggle multiple tenders within tight deadlines.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with platforms such as Schneider Electric, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium/Niagara, Delta Controls, and ABB.
- Background in controls engineering, commissioning, or BMS project implementation.
- Knowledge of the NSW construction sector is advantageous.
