Role Overview

As an MEP BIM Coordinator, your core responsibility will be to lead the creation, coordination, and quality assurance of MEP BIM models for residential and high-rise tower projects. You will ensure precise clash detection and model integrity by collaborating closely with consultants, contractors, and site teams to promote constructability and effective implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee MEP BIM models using tools like Revit and Navisworks, adhering strictly to the Project BIM Execution Plan and Level of Detail (LOD) requirements.
• Perform multi-disciplinary clash detection between MEP and architecture/structure components, utilizing Navisworks or equivalent software, and facilitate prompt resolution with design and site teams.
• Coordinate with MEP consultants and contractors to guarantee the accuracy and feasibility of models, especially concerning vertical elements such as risers, shafts, plant rooms, and ceiling voids in high-rise constructions.
• Review and validate shop drawings, coordinated drawings, and BIM models to ensure they reflect design intent and site realities.
• Lead BIM coordination meetings, documenting all issues, resolutions, and action points diligently.
• Ensure all BIM models comply with project standards, naming protocols, and data stipulations consistent with BS 1192, ISO 19650, or specific client standards.
• Extract and manage quantities, coordinated drawings, and 2D documents from BIM models to support construction and procurement activities.
• Assist MEP site teams by delivering coordinated model outputs, providing spatial arrangement guidance, and preparing clash resolution documentation.
• Maintain thorough version control and manage model federations across disciplines using Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms.
• Collaborate with the BIM Manager to align with overarching project BIM strategies and meet delivery schedules.
• Proactively identify and alert relevant parties to MEP design or coordination risks, especially those linked to vertical distribution in high-rise buildings.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 to 8 years experience in MEP BIM coordination, focused on residential and high-rise buildings.
• Substantial UAE experience is mandatory, familiar with local regulations and authorities such as Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Civil Defence, Trakhees, among others.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, and AutoCAD; familiarity with BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), or equivalent CDE platforms.
• Comprehensive understanding of BIM standards including ISO 19650 and BS 1192, as well as LOD frameworks.
• Technical expertise in MEP systems including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire fighting, electrical, and low current systems specifically designed for vertical and high-rise building typologies.
