Position Overview
The Billing Coordinator role, located full-time onsite in Toronto, ON, is responsible for generating, reviewing, and issuing invoices for freight, warehousing, and logistic services. The role ensures compliance with company policies and client contracts. Daily activities include validating billing information, reconciling charges, maintaining precise billing records, and addressing discrepancies together with internal teams and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and check accurate invoices for customers related to ocean, air, ground, and other freight forwarding operations.
- Cross-verify invoices from carriers, vendors, and overseas agents against shipment logs, quotations, and contracted rates.
- Collaborate with Operations and Accounting departments to resolve any billing inconsistencies, identify missing charges, and apply necessary invoice corrections.
- Track unbilled shipments and outstanding invoices to guarantee prompt billing and precise revenue recognition.
- Keep detailed billing data, compile regular reports, and handle customer questions about freight billing, invoices, and payment matters.
Required Qualifications
- Up to one year experience in international logistics, ideally within freight forwarding.
- Entry-level candidates with interest in international trade and relevant coursework or projects in logistics are encouraged to apply.
- A bachelor’s or college degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related fields; certificates or short-term programs also considered.
- Basic understanding of billing procedures, including the use of billing systems and invoice generation.
- Strong analytical abilities to review data, detect discrepancies, and assist in financial reporting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with internal teams and external clients.
- High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and capacity to manage multiple billing deadlines.
