Job Overview

The Billing Analyst role at Baker McKenzie focuses on delivering excellent billing services across the firm's offices globally. The position emphasizes accurate invoice preparation, adherence to company billing policies, and punctual client invoicing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and carefully review invoices following the firm's billing standards and procedures.
  • Handle billing adjustments including time transfers, cost transfers, and write-offs as necessary.
  • Oversee assigned billing matters from start to finish, ensuring prompt follow-ups and resolution.
  • Maintain current client billing details, specifications, and instructions.
  • Effectively prioritize tasks, identify potential challenges, and escalate issues when warranted.
  • Work collaboratively with Billing & Collections teams, Functional Leaders, Partners, Personal Assistants, and global stakeholders.
  • Support the identification and resolution of billing discrepancies and contribute to ongoing process enhancements.
  • Analyze billing data and complex scenarios to aid informed decision-making.
  • Promote operational excellence by spotting opportunities to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Perform additional assigned tasks and projects as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Liberal Arts, or related fields.
  • Strong proficiency in English communication, both spoken and written.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and solid command of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Previous experience in billing is preferable; experience in other finance-related functions is also valued.
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and ability to manage various priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global team setting.
  • Exhibits ownership, accountability, and a proactive working attitude.
  • Confidence to address queries and escalate problems when appropriate.
  • A commitment to continuous process improvement and efficiency.
  • Experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to enhance productivity and support decision-making.
  • Availability to work flexible and occasionally shifting schedules as required.
