Role Overview
We are seeking a Big Data Application Support Engineer to monitor, troubleshoot, and support Big Data pipelines, jobs, and applications within AWS, Snowflake, Hadoop, and Spark frameworks. This full-time position is based in Hyderabad with potential support in Bangalore or Chennai. The work schedule involves rotational shifts, with day shifts requiring office presence and night shifts operating remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Big Data jobs and workflows including Spark and Rundeck.
- Manage job failures and restarts, liaising with engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Monitor SLA compliance and escalate problems promptly.
- Address alerts, incidents, and tickets using platforms such as ServiceNow and Jira.
- Perform initial root cause analysis (RCA) and record findings systematically.
- Handle user access permissions, role changes, and onboarding to environments.
- Troubleshoot Spark job issues, including analyzing logs and resolving Yarn and S3 related problems.
- Verify data load integrity and ensure pipeline completeness.
- Execute daily checks and routine activities by adhering to runbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain detailed documentation of incidents, resolutions, and frequent issues.
- Assist in deployment activities under guidance from engineering teams.
Required Skills and Experience
- In-depth knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem components such as HDFS, Kafka, Spark, HBase, and AWS EMR.
- Proficiency in SQL to support data validation and issue debugging.
- Strong Linux skills and expertise in troubleshooting Spark applications.
- Familiarity with foundational AWS services including EMR, S3, and IAM.
- Knowledge of schedulers like Airflow, Oozie, and Rundeck.
- Excellent analytical abilities coupled with effective communication skills.
Additional Details
The working week consists of five days at the office for day shifts, with the option for remote work during night shifts. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Hyderabad; opportunities in Bangalore and Chennai may also be available depending on shifts.
