Role Overview
The Bids Manager position is a permanent role based in Singapore within the Marketing & Business Development (MBD) team for the Europe, Middle East & Asia-Pacific (EMEAPAC) region. This role involves overseeing both transactional and strategic bids, including those led by Asia and complex multi-jurisdictional panels, particularly focusing on Energy, Infrastructure, and Natural Resources sectors.
The Bids Manager collaborates closely with lawyers and business services colleagues to secure and maintain key mandates, contributing strategically to regional growth. Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager in Singapore, this role requires exceptional organizational capacity to manage multiple competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the bid process from initial qualification to post-submission follow-up for Singapore and Asia-led transactional and strategic bids in priority sectors.
- Lead bid activities including kickoff calls, planning, content development, messaging, editing, proofreading, and submission.
- Manage project documentation and ensure rigorous document control throughout the bid lifecycle.
- Collaborate with regional leadership and business development teams to identify and focus on strategic bidding opportunities.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with partners and lawyers at various levels in the firm.
- Provide guidance and coaching to fee earners and support staff about client engagement during the bid process.
- Work alongside lead partners, business development, and client relationship teams to tailor bid strategies and deliver bespoke proposals.
- Maintain market awareness and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across relevant teams.
- Coordinate and manage inputs from diverse functions including pricing, compliance, business development, secretarial, and knowledge management.
- Update bid management systems with accurate reporting and region-specific content to support future bids.
- Implement and promote best practices in bid management, including training and coaching for business development and legal colleagues.
- Act as an ambassador for the bids and business development teams within the wider organization, facilitating collaboration among stakeholders.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience managing complex bid responses across multiple practice areas, particularly Asia-led bids and proposals.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain quality under pressure.
- Strong project management aptitude with capability to handle multiple bids concurrently.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in written English, for drafting, editing, and proofreading bid materials.
- Confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all organizational levels and building strong relationships.
- Adaptability and flexibility to address the dynamic demands of a global legal firm.
- Prior experience bidding within professional services environments is essential.
