Bid Manager

About the Role

The Bid Manager acts as the primary technical liaison for customers prior to sales engagement, delivering consultancy and support. This role includes preparing competitive and technologically advanced quotations for solutions, services, and turnkey projects. The Bid Manager supports Area Sales Managers and Contract Administrators by providing technical expertise during both bid preparation and project execution. Additionally, the role may involve leading a team of bid managers within the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, coordinate, and submit bids ranging from straightforward to complex projects.
• Calculate and manage quotations for solutions and services, ensuring accurate uploads in SAP Projects assets through strict internal controls.
• Engage with customers and agents to clarify technical details, offering proactive technical support before and throughout the bidding phase.
• Defend bids internally and occasionally support Area Sales Managers locally.
• Propose alternative solutions proactively in cases of pricing issues or specification deviations.
• Assist Area Sales Managers during customer visits and related activities.
• Manage Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
• Author standards and methods related to airfield lighting, VDGS, and Tower systems.
• Coordinate with third-party airfield suppliers and installation contractors by preparing RFQs, evaluating offers, and selecting appropriate partners.
• Prepare gross Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for budgetary proposals including lights, signs, accessories, circuits, and CCRs.
• Provide AGL, VDGS, and Tower design support.
• Offer assistance to fellow Bid Managers operating in the Middle East region.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Engineering (Aeronautical, Airfield, Airport, Electrical, Industrial) or equivalent experience.
• 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar bid management role.
• Understanding of various airfield technologies.
• Strong familiarity with ADB Safegate’s product and solution portfolio, including advanced customer services preferred.
• Knowledge of AGL, VDGS, and Tower technologies and design, along with expertise in ICAO and FAA standards.
• Experience with government tender processes in Africa.
• Expertise in framework agreements and Service Level Agreement proposals.
• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
