Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Benefits Manager for India to join our Total Rewards team. This role requires expertise in India's statutory and supplemental benefits, strong leadership presence, and the capability to influence decision-making within a global and matrixed corporate environment. Reporting to the Director of EMEA/APJ Benefits and operating under the Senior APJ Benefits Manager's strategic guidance, you will be the local authority on all benefits-related matters in India.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead India benefits expert, providing insights to help shape regional benefits philosophy and policies, ensuring alignment with global strategy and local market needs.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of India's benefits programs, covering health, risk, retirement, leave, and wellbeing, maintaining compliance with Indian labor laws such as EPF, ESI, gratuity, Maternity Benefit Act, and state-specific requirements amidst evolving legislation.
  • Lead vendor relationships and annual benefit renewals, overseeing vendor performance assessments, benchmarking, and working closely with brokers and consulting firms to optimize program quality and cost.
  • Participate in budget creation, offering cost forecasts, analyzing utilization, and proposing financially responsible improvements grounded in rigorous financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal partners including compensation leads, finance, legal, payroll, HR operations, and communication teams to ensure smooth and compliant delivery of benefits programs and consistent employee support.
  • Serve as the key contact for employee escalations related to benefits, resolving complex issues with confidentiality and building trust within the workforce.
  • Manage multi-level stakeholder relationships across India leadership, regional and global teams, and external partners, advocating for India-suitable solutions while respecting global policy alignment, including managing executive-level escalations.
  • Support M&A activities by conducting benefits due diligence, harmonizing benefits post-acquisition, and managing communication strategies for India-based acquisitions.
  • Adapt to changing priorities with agility, making independent decisions within remote leadership frameworks, and contributing as an innovative team member to global and cross-regional benefits projects.
  • Drive innovation using AI and platform tools to enhance employee experience and operational processes; stay proactive on regulatory changes and their program implications.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience managing employee benefits programs, specifically with in-depth knowledge of India's statutory and supplemental benefits in technology sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Indian statutory benefits frameworks, including EPF/EPFO, ESI, Payment of Gratuity Act, Maternity Benefit Act, and state labor welfare laws.
  • Proven ability to set strategic goals and function effectively as an individual contributor in complex global matrix organizations.
  • Expertise in benefits-related finance and accounting, capable of conducting budget planning, cost modeling, and utilization analytics.
  • Customer-oriented and collaborative with demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and working across functional teams.
  • Experience with process innovation, project management, and benefits technology platforms such as Workday or Darwin; exposure to ServiceNow Platform is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills for market data assessment, benchmarking, and informed decision-making.
  • Experience managing vendors, including negotiating contracts, administering RFP processes, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Previous involvement in M&A due diligence and integration processes related to benefits.
  • Some experience leveraging AI technologies for workflow automation, decision-making support, or process improvement is preferred.
