About the Role
Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa, an award-winning establishment located in Tralee, County Kerry, invites applications for a Bartender position to become part of its distinguished team. This role is pivotal in delivering professional, hospitable, and compliant service to guests within the hotel's bars and lounge areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure consistent delivery of 4-star service standards.
- Engage with customers courteously and professionally, maintaining excellent guest care at all times.
- Adhere fully to all Health & Safety legislation to protect self, colleagues, and guests.
- Arrive punctually in proper uniform including a name badge and Ballygarry pin.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of guest information.
- Follow all departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Welcome and assist guests with friendly service.
- Promptly and accurately take and serve drink orders.
- Prepare various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks following standard recipes.
- Verify guests' legal drinking age and refuse service where required.
- Advise guests on beverage selections and ingredients.
- Promote and upsell specialty cocktails, featured wines, and other drinks.
- Keep the bar clean, organized, and well stocked at all times.
- Restock bar supplies, including glassware and utensils.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately; report discrepancies.
- Comply with all hotel policies, procedures, and alcohol service laws.
- Manage bar inventory, including ordering and stocktaking.
- Work collaboratively with hotel staff to resolve guest issues and enhance service.
- Participate in training and stay current with product knowledge and industry trends.
- Uphold responsible alcohol service, preventing over-intoxication.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness across bar areas and equipment.
- Follow cleaning schedules and closing procedures to prepare for the next day.
- Be flexible with shift lengths and duties, including buffet events and plate clearing.
- Have a solid knowledge of food and beverage, capable of upselling products.
- Possess reasonable knowledge of wine.
- Ensure the function room, toilets, and dance floor are safe and free from hazards.
- Carry personal bottle and wine openers during shifts.
- Report maintenance issues promptly.
Requirements
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Willingness to work on weekends and bank holidays.
- Previous bartending experience is desirable but not mandatory.
