About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Bar Manager to lead our bar operations in a luxury hospitality setting. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Management, or a related discipline. Candidates should possess a minimum of five years in bar management, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity at upscale restaurants or similar venues.
The role demands expertise in mixology, premium spirits, wines, cocktail creation, and adherence to beverage service standards. Familiarity with POS systems, inventory and stock management, beverage costing, and maintaining compliance with local alcohol regulations is essential. This position requires flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily bar operations to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery.
- Lead, train, and mentor bar staff to uphold excellent performance and customer service standards.
- Ensure beverage preparation consistently follows company recipes, quality benchmarks, and presentation specifications.
- Develop and update cocktail menus and seasonal promotions in alignment with brand identity.
- Analyze beverage sales to uncover opportunities for increased revenue and profitability.
- Maintain inventory, coordinate stock orders, and manage supplier relationships to support uninterrupted bar operations.
- Monitor and control beverage costs, reduce wastage, and reconcile inventory variances through regular stock counts.
- Collaborate with finance and purchasing teams on budgeting, pricing strategies, and cost controls.
- Comply with licensing laws, health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service policies.
- Handle customer feedback, complaints, and special requests with professionalism.
- Keep bar areas clean, organized, and ready for service at all times.
- Manage cash handling, billing accuracy, and ensure internal control compliance.
- Schedule and monitor staff levels to maintain operational efficiency and labor effectiveness.
- Stay updated on market trends, premium beverage products, and innovative cocktail techniques.
- Prepare reports related to operations and performance for senior management review.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive operational and commercial details.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or diploma in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Management, or equivalent preferred.
- Five or more years of experience in bar operations with at least two years in a manager/supervisor role within luxury hospitality.
- Strong expertise in mixology, premium liquor, wine knowledge, and cocktail preparation.
- Proficient with POS systems and adept in inventory, stock control, and beverage costing methodologies.
- Sound understanding of responsible alcohol service and regulatory compliance.
- Proven capability in budget management, supplier negotiations, and cost control.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and operational planning skills.
