Fergbaker is expanding and welcomes motivated individuals to grow alongside the team in Arrowtown. Originating from a modest burger stand, the Ferg Group now encompasses renowned outlets like Fergburger, Fergbaker, Mrs Ferg, Ferg's Bar, and Fergbutcher, celebrated for quality food and vibrant experiences. With a new Fergbaker opening in Arrowtown in early November, we are recruiting passionate team members from the outset.

Role Overview

The Baker's Assistant will support bakers, pastry chefs, sandwich makers, and other kitchen staff by assisting with preparation, stock handling, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support bakers in producing daily bread and bakery items.
• Assist pastry chefs with their daily baking tasks.
• Accurately measure and weigh ingredients as needed.
• Prepare ingredients and equipment for baking operations.
• Mix, shape, portion, and prepare dough under supervision.
• Operate ovens by loading and unloading baked goods.
• Keep track of baking times and oven temperatures.
• Set up trays, tins, and other baking tools.
• Prepare sandwiches and other bakery items as required.
• Clean and sanitize all equipment, benches, and utensils properly.
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards following the Food Control Plan.
• Follow recipes, production schedules, and quality benchmarks strictly.
• Manage and rotate stock and baking ingredients carefully.
• Assist with deliveries, storage, and general stock management.
• Support the broader Fergbaker team with miscellaneous production duties as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Available to work various shifts including mornings, afternoons, and evenings on a rotating roster.
• Commit to full-time work averaging 40–45 hours weekly.
• Comfortable in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Possess a friendly demeanor and a proactive, positive attitude.
• Physically fit to stand for extended periods and handle lifting of bulk food products.
• Have reliable transportation to commute to the Arrowtown location.
