Role Overview
The Baker will join Bistrot Samantha as a full-time, on-site team member based in Lagos. The role involves preparing, baking, and finishing a variety of breads, pastries, cookies, and specialty baked goods reflecting the brand’s Afro-European identity and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Mix and proof doughs for different bread and pastry products.
- Monitor baking processes and timing to ensure ideal results.
- Maintain accurate inventory of baking ingredients.
- Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and flavor of baked items.
- Collaborate closely with the culinary team to develop new recipes.
- Support baking-related events, experiences, and educational programs.
- Adhere strictly to food safety, sanitation, and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Organize and maintain workstations and baking equipment.
- Contribute to a creative, inclusive, and positive kitchen environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong proficiency in artisanal bakery skills and baking specialty goods.
- Expertise in food preparation with focus on quality, exact portioning, and appealing presentation.
- Capability to produce cookies and small baked treats with creativity and attention to detail.
- Experience in bread-making, including shaping, proofing, and baking various bread types.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and prior experience in professional bakery/kitchen settings.
- Dependability, excellent time management, with flexibility to work early shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a diverse team and communicate effectively with staff and supervisors.
- Formal culinary, pastry, or bakery training or equivalent hands-on experience is highly advantageous.
