Backup & Storage Administrator

About the Role

Nahil Computers, a prominent IT system integrator in Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Backup & Storage Administrator to join an enterprise project within the financial industry sector in Riyadh.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise backup systems including setting policies, scheduling jobs, retention management, daily monitoring, and resolving failures.
• Conduct periodic test restores and participate in disaster recovery (DR) drills and documentation processes.
• Administer Dell EMC storage systems covering LUN and volume provisioning, snapshot management, data replication, firmware updates, and health monitoring.
• Oversee SAN fabric operations, including zoning and maintenance of Brocade switches.
• Monitor storage and backup capacity, generating monthly detailed reports on capacity and performance metrics.
• Address incidents, service requests, and changes according to ITIL standards and client service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Collaborate with Dell and other vendors on support tickets, system upgrades, and patch management.
• Implement security protocols such as encryption, immutable and air-gapped backups, access reviews, and assist in compliance audits (SAMA, NCA).
• Maintain documentation like runbooks, system diagrams, and asset inventories; participate in on-call rotations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Approximately a decade of practical experience in backup and storage administration.
• Proficiency in at least one backup software among Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup, or Dell NetWorker/Data Domain.
• Experience with Dell EMC storage solutions including PowerMax, PowerStore, Unity, Data Domain, NetWorker/PowerProtect is highly advantageous.
• Expertise in SAN switch management; experience within banking or finance sectors and relevant vendor certifications are beneficial.
• Applicants must currently reside in Saudi Arabia.
