Background Investigator (Remote)

Position Summary

We are recruiting a Background Investigator to perform detailed background checks and investigations on candidates and employees. This full-time remote position requires a blend of investigative thoroughness and confidentiality to produce dependable reports that support hiring decisions.

Key Duties

• Conduct extensive investigations covering employment histories, educational backgrounds, criminal records, and credit information.
• Interview references and confirm credentials with past employers and educational institutions.
• Access public records, judicial databases, and credential registries for information gathering.
• Accurately document all findings and prepare comprehensive investigative reports.
• Ensure adherence to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), relevant state laws, and industry regulations.
• Efficiently manage multiple case investigations in accordance with established service level agreements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of two years' experience in background investigations, compliance, or related investigative roles.
• Strong research capabilities with an exceptional eye for detail.
• Understanding of FCRA provisions and adverse action procedures.
• Proficient written communication skills including report preparation.
• Comfortable using investigative resources such as court records and public databases.
• Ability to handle sensitive personal information with utmost discretion.

Compensation and Benefits
