Backend Software Developer

Position Summary

Zion Cloud Solutions seeks a Backend Software Developer based in Hyderabad for a long-term contract, working primarily from 6 PM to 3 AM IST aligning with the US EST time zone. The role involves creating robust, scalable, and secure backend applications, collaborating closely with frontend teams to deliver quality software products.

Primary Responsibilities

• Engage in planning, designing, developing, testing, and deploying new software applications as well as enhancing current systems.
• Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and application components utilizing languages like Python, C#, Node.js, or related technologies.
• Construct and support RESTful APIs and adopt microservices or API-driven architecture where applicable.
• Develop, test, and refine application modules as per business and technical requirements.
• Manage SQL and NoSQL databases including data modeling, querying, and optimization.
• Collaborate with technical leads, architects, and frontend developers to ensure smooth integration of applications.
• Incorporate AI-driven and data-centric features into software solutions.
• Apply software design patterns and programming concepts to boost application performance and scalability.
• Produce clean, secure, maintainable code following development standards.
• Participate in code reviews, technical walkthroughs, and design sessions.
• Support deployment activities, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and workflow enhancements.
• Identify and resolve software bugs and production issues promptly.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications minimizing business impact.
• Create and update technical documentation for effective knowledge sharing and maintenance.
• Work within Agile/Scrum methodologies to achieve project milestones collaboratively.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related experience.
• 2 to 4 years of professional experience in software development.
• Skilled in at least one backend programming language such as Python, C#, or Node.js.
• Good understanding of RESTful API design and application integration patterns.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and API-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with software testing, version control, code quality assurance, and secure coding practices.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure or similar cloud platforms.
• Basic experience with Docker or containerization technologies.
• Foundational knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps approaches.
• Experience or exposure to Agile/Scrum team environments.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and debugging capabilities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of messaging platforms and event-driven architectures such as Kafka or Azure Service Bus.
• Interest or experience integrating AI/ML services or APIs.
• Familiarity with data platforms and integration methods.
• Understanding of UML and technical documentation practices.
• Willingness to learn legacy technologies including Smalltalk used by company projects.
