Job Overview

As a Backend Engineer at LayerZero, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing scalable backend solutions powering innovative web3 technologies. This role involves building complex, distributed systems within a fast-moving startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex distributed backend systems with scalability and robustness in mind.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code bases.
• Take initiative and independently solve problems in a dynamic, high-pressure setting.
• Deliver code supporting tens of billions of dollars in daily transaction volume.
• Quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and system design paradigms.
• Effectively communicate intricate technical concepts concisely and clearly.
• Engage deeply with technology stacks from top to bottom with a problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 2 years of backend development experience, focusing on scalable and production-ready systems.
• Strong architecture design skills with openness to collaborative problem solving.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including deployment, management, and scaling of applications.
• Proficiency in backend programming languages, especially Typescript.
• Familiarity with workflow engine technologies.
• Previous exposure to blockchain tech, smart contracts, or decentralized finance is a significant advantage.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is from $120,000 to $200,000 annually, influenced by experience, skills, and job knowledge. LayerZero offers a comprehensive compensation package that may include equity and various medical and financial benefits depending on the specific role.
