Job description

About The Role

In this role, you will develop backend systems that convert product and residential data into organized formats and precise 3D models. Initial projects will primarily involve furniture data ingestion, with opportunities to expand into digital home creation and other 3D related processes. Collaboration with product teams and 3D specialists is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop server-side applications, including APIs and automated workflows to ingest, standardize, enrich, and distribute product and residential data.
  • Design and maintain databases and their relationships concerning products, homes, size metrics, source information, and generated 3D assets.
  • Implement and integrate programmatic 3D processes such as procedural modeling, asset processing, and generation services.
  • Establish validation mechanisms for scale, measurements, geometry, and textures, ensuring errors can be inspected and corrected.
  • Create robust, repeatable pipelines with testing, retry logic, logging, and monitoring for performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Solid fundamentals in backend development including server-side programming, API construction and integration, database schema design, and workflow automation.
  • Practical experience creating or manipulating 3D geometry programmatically is mandatory; advanced procedural modeling skills are highly desirable, though substantial backend expertise paired with less extensive 3D experience is considered.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues spanning multiple services and data streams; proficiency with Python, TypeScript/Node.js, SQL, and Blender is relevant, with openness to comparable technologies.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Blender scripting, Unity, game development, procedural geometry, or automated model and asset processing is a plus.

Additional Information

  • This position targets a mid-level engineer with roughly 3 to 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong engineering principles, independent problem-solving, and practical familiarity with AI tools are important.
  • Ownership and demonstrated ability are valued beyond just years of experience.
  • The role is full-time and ongoing, ideally aligning with New York business hours.
  • The company fosters diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with bonus opportunities
  • Potential for equity ownership
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Access to a prime office location in SoHo
