Job Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll develop and manage robust backend microservices forming the core of the Talview platform, utilizing technologies like PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS Lambda, GraphQL, Hasura, Node.js, and Temporal. You'll handle complex technical challenges, maintain service quality, and contribute to platform growth.
Primary Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, deploy, and maintain scalable backend microservices servicing millions of users.
- Continuously monitor service utilization and optimize for performance, stability, and speed.
- Collaborate with Frontend developers, QA teams, Product managers, and Customer Success departments.
- Take full ownership of your backend services from initial design to ongoing operation.
- Engage in proof of concept initiatives and pilot new product functionalities.
- Integrate varied APIs, external services, and multiple data sources within the system ecosystem.
- Contribute actively to enhancing the platform’s reliability, scalability, and overall success.
Required Qualifications
- 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in backend software development focusing on Node.js.
- Strong grasp of object-oriented programming paradigms, design patterns, and SOLID software principles.
- Experience writing comprehensive unit, integration, and functional tests.
- Familiarity with distributed architectures, application tuning, profiling, and continuous integration pipelines.
- Proficiency in SQL querying and PostgreSQL database management.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices design.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience working in SaaS environments.
- Background in roles involving direct customer interaction on engineering solutions.
- Comfortable with tools such as Git, VS Code, and REST client utilities.
- Understanding and applying Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
