About the Role
We seek an accomplished Backend Developer with over three years of hands-on Python and FastAPI experience. The selected professional will independently analyze business needs, architect scalable backend solutions, collaborate closely with frontend teams, and participate in deployment and cloud infrastructure management. Expertise in United States financial services, asset and investment management, portfolio data, or related sectors will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services employing Python and FastAPI.
- Create and maintain RESTful APIs and business logic layers.
- Work extensively with PostgreSQL and SQL covering complex queries, optimization, indexing, transactions, and schema design.
- Utilize NoSQL databases like MongoDB or equivalents.
- Implement caching strategies and enhance performance using Redis or comparable technologies.
- Develop clean, modular, maintainable backend architecture.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions autonomously.
- Partner with React frontend developers to define API contracts, data structures, validation rules, and integration specifics.
- Coordinate among frontend, QA, and product teams for end-to-end feature delivery.
- Handle AWS cloud services including deployment, monitoring, and security fundamentals.
- Engage with CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues relating to performance, API failures, and databases.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests ensuring high code quality.
- Review code and contribute to backend architectural and technical decisions.
- Understand and adapt to financial and asset management data and workflows.
Essential Technical Skills
- Proficient in Python with strong hands-on experience.
- Solid expertise in FastAPI framework.
- In-depth understanding of REST API development.
- Advanced PostgreSQL skills including queries, indexing, and optimization.
- Strong SQL programming capabilities.
- Good knowledge of NoSQL database systems.
- Practical experience with caching technologies like Redis.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows.
- Strong Git version control skills.
- Competency in testing frameworks like Pytest for unit and integration tests.
- Basic understanding of React for API consumption and integration.
- Awareness of system design principles.
- Desirable experience with Docker and Linux environments.
