Role Overview
As an Aviation Safety Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in advancing aviation safety practices within New Zealand's aviation community. This position involves proactive engagement with industry stakeholders to influence safe operations, enhance technical capability, and avoid safety incidents. You will visit sites, participate in forums, and conduct targeted interactions to build trust and deliver fact-based safety guidance.

- Lead impactful safety discussions aimed at improving industry standards and compliance
Role Details
This critical role involves leading aviation safety initiatives by using insights and intelligence to identify emerging and widespread safety risks. You will coordinate educational programs and safety response actions in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority and aviation industry participants. The role is Wellington-based or within the Lower North Island preferred, with regular travel across New Zealand to engage directly with aviation organizations.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (helicopter or fixed wing) with detailed maintenance expertise
- Strong grasp of New Zealand civil aviation standards and regulatory frameworks, including licensing and certification
- Effective communicator with excellent stakeholder management capabilities to build credibility and influence
- Sound judgement and discretion to effectively balance diverse stakeholder requirements
- Strong analytical skills with ability to apply critical and systems thinking to problem-solving
- A collaborative mindset with confidence to facilitate complex safety-related conversations
- Previous Maintenance Controller experience is an asset
- Possession of a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence to support regular travel
- Experience in delivering and leading in-person workshops highly desirable
- Must currently hold or have previously held a New Zealand Maintenance Engineer License
