AV & Production Technician

Job Overview

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is seeking a proficient AV & Production Technician to join their team starting August 2026. This pivotal role involves supporting one of the UAE's premier school performing arts and event programs, contributing significantly to the technical delivery of concerts, theatrical productions, assemblies, sporting and community events.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot all school audio-visual equipment including sound, lighting, projection, and recording technologies.
• Set up, operate, and dismantle AV equipment at a variety of school functions such as performances, assemblies, examinations, and events.
• Provide technical assistance to staff, students, and external vendors during live events and performances.
• Support classroom and conference technology needs as required.
• Oversee the inventory of all AV equipment, recommending upgrades or replacements as needed.
• Lead the operation, programming, and maintenance of theatrical lighting and sound systems used throughout the school.
• Design, program, and operate lighting and sound for significant school productions, concerts, dance performances, and musical theater.
• Manage complex large-scale productions involving live orchestras, multiple venues, and external artists.
• Collaborate with Performing Arts, Music, and Drama leaders to develop technical plans, ensuring high professional standards.
• Coordinate rehearsals and technical runs, supervising sound, lighting, and stage management.
• Maintain theater, auditorium, and performing arts technical equipment to ensure readiness year-round.
• Facilitate recording, livestreaming, and multimedia services for school performances and events.
• Provide AV support for community and parental events including open days, graduations, and conferences.
• Assist marketing and communications with audio-visual and recording requirements.
• Ensure all AV and production equipment are safely operated adhering to health and safety guidelines, performing routine inspections and reporting defects.
• Maintain safe working environments across performance and event spaces.
• Support the wider Operations and Performing Arts teams with various tasks as needed, including participation outside regular hours.
• Create and update technical documentation, including operating procedures and equipment manuals.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the school.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma, Degree, or professional certification in Audio Visual Technology, Sound Engineering, Technical Theatre, Event Production, Media Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience considered.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in roles related to AV, technical theatre, production, events, or performing arts support.
• Proficiency with professional audio-visual, sound, and lighting equipment.
• Experience in supporting live events including concerts and theatrical productions.
• Skills in programming and operating stage lighting and live sound mixing.
• Experience managing productions with multiple performers or live orchestras.
• Competency in troubleshooting and maintaining AV equipment.
• Prior work in schools, theaters, performing arts venues, or live event settings is advantageous.
