ClarityNT is a specialized accounting and advisory firm located in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, providing a broad range of services including accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, payroll, audit, and business advisory primarily serving Aboriginal corporations, schools, incorporated associations, and small businesses across the Northern Territory and APY Lands. The team operates both locally and remotely throughout Australia.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to take charge of our Audit & Assurance division along with the Managing Director. This newly established position involves leading external audits for incorporated associations and schools, managing audit preparations where audits are concluded by Registered Company Auditors, and helping to set up internal procedures to support the growth of the auditing division. The role offers flexible full-time or part-time hours (30–38 hours weekly) with a primarily remote work setup for candidates outside Alice Springs. Preference will be given to candidates based in the Northern Territory, though applicants from elsewhere in Australia are welcome if they are willing to travel when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complete external audit cycles for various clients including planning, audit execution, and final reporting.
• Prepare and deliver audit reports, management letters, and present findings to Boards, committees, and management.
• Coordinate audit preparations for clients with statutory audits signed off externally, including preparing financial statements and collaborating with auditors.
• Develop and continuously enhance internal audit procedures, templates, and quality assurance processes to ensure best practices as the audit division expands.
• Train, mentor, and oversee audit and accounting team members, reviewing their work and providing technical leadership.
• Build and sustain long-term client relationships as a key contact for audit services.
• Ensure all audit practices adhere to Australian Auditing Standards and relevant legislation.
• Manage workflow planning and resource allocation within the team.
• Identify growth opportunities for audit, assurance, and related advisory services and participate in business development activities such as proposals and tenders.
• Contribute to the strategic planning and profitability improvement of the Audit & Assurance division.
• Support clients with taxation, accounting, business advisory services, BAS preparation, and compliance obligations.
• Assist clients with governance, compliance, reporting, funding acquittals, and grant reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with the Managing Director on strategies, resource management, and quality control.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (CA, CPA, or IPA) completed or in progress, with demonstrable audit management experience.
• Experience in taxation, accounting, and business advisory services.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Australian Auditing Standards.
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and report-writing capabilities.
• Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Proven leadership abilities with experience mentoring team members and maintaining trusted client relationships.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 and cloud-based accounting and auditing software.
• Ability to work autonomously within a remote or hybrid team environment.

Additional Information

Location: Alice Springs or remote (work from home anywhere in Australia). Flexible part-time or full-time hours (30–38 hours/week). Immediate start preferred.

Employment will be conditional upon successful completion of a National Police Check, pre-employment screening including AML/CTF (Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorism Financing) checks, and satisfactory reference verifications.

Applicants should be prepared to travel to the Northern Territory as required. The firm prefers candidates based in NT but welcomes others across Australia willing to travel.
