Role Overview
As a Sales Associate, you provide prompt and friendly service by proactively approaching customers to evaluate their needs and offer support. This role focuses heavily on product and department knowledge, enabling you to inform customers about features and related items to fulfill entire project needs. You're expected to greet, engage, and thank every customer in your section while also offering basic assistance in neighboring departments. Customer service and problem solving for customer requirements are your prime focus.
Primary Responsibilities
- Adhere to The Home Depot's GET customer service model: Greeting, Engaging, and Thanking customers.
- Seek out customers within the store and guide them to the right merchandise, irrespective of department boundaries.
- Use open-ended questions to understand customers' projects, needs, and expertise.
- Promote additional services such as Special Services, Tool Rental, Pro Desk, and Pro Services, recommending them appropriately.
- Present various purchasing options (good, better, best) and upsell related goods or services from other areas relevant to the customer's project.
- Educate customers about the entirety of their projects to support informed decisions.
- Utilize empowerment programs to resolve customer concerns as needed.
- Maintain stock every day, ensuring products are clearly signed, clean, and well displayed.
- Continuously update your knowledge of current and adjacent department products and services.
- Follow all safety and Loss Prevention policies rigorously.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Expect a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
- Work occurs in a warehouse environment exposed to dust and noise.
- Frequent door openings may cause drafts and temperature variations.
- Tasks involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving merchandise.

Education and Experience
- Minimum education requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Between 1 and 2 years of retail or trade work experience is preferred.
