Role Overview

The Neurology Division is looking for an Associate Neurologist to join its team at Brampton Civic Hospital or Etobicoke General Hospital. The role combines hospital-based and community outpatient practice with a focus on electrodiagnostic medicine, including EMG and nerve conduction studies. The hospital hosts a well-equipped and staffed electrodiagnostic clinic and an expanding stroke prevention program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule: about one week every four and one weekend every eight weeks for corporate call duties.
  • Establish and maintain an independent outpatient neurology practice within the community.

Program Highlights

Osler boasts one of the busiest EMG clinics in the Greater Toronto Area utilizing up-to-date equipment and technologists. Real-time editing and immediate note release are supported by dictation systems. Monthly Neurology and NeuroRadiology case rounds serve as excellent continuous medical education for staff, reinforcing neurology’s dynamic clinical environment. The rapidly growing community ensures a consistent and thriving workload, promising long-term, stable income and career growth.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Medical degree recognized in Canada or equivalent accreditation.
  • Registration to practice with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario, certification in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, and a minimum one-year fellowship in Neuromuscular Medicine.
  • Certification from the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists (CSCN) required for work in electrodiagnostic clinics.
  • Current license and good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with sound interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving proficiency.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professional responsibility.
  • Alignment with Osler’s core values: Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration.
  • Experience or interest in clinical teaching or research is desirable.

DeGroote School of Medicine. New hires are expected to join academic initiatives such as teaching and research. Candidates without a current academic appointment must apply for faculty status within three months of hospital appointment.
