Role Overview
We seek a strategic and experienced Associate General Counsel to lead legal and regulatory functions across Asia Pacific from our Singapore office. This executive role involves steering a regional legal team, advising leadership on complex cross-border matters, and ensuring regulatory compliance to support scalable commercial activities in diverse APAC jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement APAC legal strategies aligned with BitGo’s global business goals.
- Act as the chief legal advisor to the APAC executive team on major commercial agreements and expansion initiatives.
- Ensure strong corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and maintain government relations across all APAC regions.
- Lead the regional legal team through multifaceted regulatory environments, including data privacy and financial regulatory frameworks.
- Oversee resolution of disputes, employment issues, and corporate transactions in coordination with external legal counsel.
- Hire, mentor, and nurture a high-performing team of legal professionals at various regional offices.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer in Singapore or another prominent common law jurisdiction with excellent academic achievements.
- At least 12 years of professional experience, including extensive leadership of regional legal matters within an in-house environment.
- In-depth understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks across Southeast Asia, Australia, and Greater China.
- Proven expertise in managing distributed legal teams and handling complex, multi-jurisdictional regulatory challenges.
- Strong commercial insight, balancing legal compliance with rapid business development.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to effectively connect regional operations with global headquarters.
