Based in Tāmaki-makau-rau/Auckland, you will be part of the Complex Accounting and Reporting team within the Audit, Assurance and Reporting Advisory unit, serving as an Associate Director. Your core function will involve guiding clients through complicated transactions, ensuring appropriate reflection in their external financial reporting. You will engage across multiple industries, teaming with colleagues from Audit, Tax, Corporate Finance, Risk Advisory, and Consulting to apply your deep knowledge of New Zealand accounting and reporting standards to develop solutions that are both precise and pragmatic.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, client-focused accounting and corporate reporting advice addressing unique and complex challenges.
• Support clients during periods of disruptive change, including mergers and acquisitions or divestments.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring adherence to client and internal deadlines.
• Contribute to or oversee the creation of Deloitte’s corporate reporting assets, like model financial statements, accounting alerts, and financial reporting checklists.
• Bring your perspective and proactive energy to strengthen the team.
• Support auditors and finance professionals by providing accounting education and resources such as tools and templates.
• Develop thought leadership content, including client publications and submissions to regulatory standard setters.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant (CA) designation with CAANZ or international equivalent, backed by at least five years of relevant experience.
• Strong technical expertise in accounting, including familiarity with IFRS Accounting Standards and Public Benefit Entity Standards.
• Experience managing projects within audit, professional services, or industry sectors; audit experience and knowledge of auditing standards are advantageous.
