Job description
Overview
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager by overseeing all facets of the store's day-to-day activities. This position is critical in encouraging and guiding staff to deliver superior customer service, fostering sales growth, achieving company goals, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales by coaching and motivating the sales team to deliver an outstanding customer experience and meet sales targets.
- Ensure thorough product knowledge among staff and monitor sales performance consistently.
- Assist in store operations management, maintaining efficiency and adherence to operational procedures.
- Oversee inventory management, addressing and resolving discrepancies.
- Contribute to personnel management including recruitment support, staff development, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain visual merchandising standards to uphold store presentation.
- Promote workplace safety and act as a role model by strictly following company policies and procedures.
Working Conditions
This role involves moderate physical activity such as prolonged standing and walking during shifts, as well as lifting, pushing, pulling, and holding items up to and above 35 lbs with appropriate support. The position requires concentration during cash handling, paperwork, and POS operations. It typically involves 40 hours per week but may require additional hours, including holidays and blackout dates. Flexible availability is essential.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 2 years' leadership experience in retail, preferably within fashion or accessories sectors.
- Proficient with MS Office and intermediate computing skills.
- Familiarity and experience operating Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary ranges from $44,000 to $48,000 per year, complemented by monthly performance bonuses. Additional benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, health coverage including dental and vision, life insurance, RRSP contributions with company matching, and an employee discount.
