Role Overview
The Assistant Store Manager position at HomeSense focuses on creating an inclusive and supportive environment where team members are empowered to deliver exceptional customer experiences. This role entails overseeing sales performance, managing operational tasks, and supporting team growth in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive store success by supporting sales targets, managing expenses, and supervising essential operations including merchandising, backroom functions, customer service, markdowns, scheduling, shipping, and receiving, with strong emphasis on reducing shrinkage and damages.
- Lead recruitment, training, and ongoing development of Associates, acting as a mentor to foster a positive workplace culture that benefits employees and customers alike.
- Facilitate implementation of company initiatives, projects, and store changes by communicating action plans and contributing to succession planning efforts.
- Develop and execute strategies to reach sales, expense, and customer service objectives; coordinate loss prevention programs and optimize store layout and operational efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- At least 2 years of leadership experience in retail as an Assistant or Store Manager.
- Proven capability in leading, developing, and motivating large teams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to influence and mentor staff effectively.
- Competent in store operations including customer service, merchandising, people management, health & safety, and loss prevention, with a track record of following through on tasks and initiatives.
