Role Overview and Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant Store Manager, you will work closely with the Store Leader to enhance store productivity and profitability by providing leadership, coaching, and maintaining operational excellence. You will set an energetic and client-focused tone on the sales floor, enhance customer service through omni-channel and virtual selling strategies, and foster an inclusive workplace where associates thrive authentically.

  • Exemplify Kate Spade’s service standards and behavior expectations, leading a dynamic and customer-centric environment.
  • Promote omni-channel and virtual sales efforts; engage in clienteling through maintaining client records, conducting outreach, and leveraging loyalty programs.
  • Enable the team to customize customer interactions and handle client concerns efficiently.
  • Drive customer data collection to support marketing efforts and encourage repeat shopping.
  • Recruit, onboard, and nurture diverse talent, offering development opportunities and addressing performance challenges as needed.
  • Establish clear targets, monitor key performance indicators such as traffic, conversion rates, units per transaction, and average unit retail, and coach the team to achieve results.
  • Serve as acting Store Leader in their absence and cultivate a motivating and inclusive store culture.
  • Develop and maintain community relationships to support recruiting and local brand promotion.
  • Manage store sales plans and forecasting, creating tactical action plans to tackle business opportunities.
  • Motivate the team to surpass sales goals across all channels.
  • Collaborate with corporate teams to analyze market trends and refine strategies.
  • Uphold and champion Kate Spade’s brand aesthetics and philosophies while ensuring all brand and operational standards are met.
  • Implement visual merchandising directives and maintain a spotless store environment.
  • Communicate sales performance, inventory trends, and customer insights to guide improvements.
  • Oversee daily operational procedures including store opening/closing, cash handling, and ensuring facility security.
  • Manage staffing schedules and payroll budgets, aligning resources to business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and loss prevention standards.
  • Support inventory control processes, conduct cycle counts, and verify shipment accuracy.
  • Lead live stream shopping events and utilize current social media trends to boost customer engagement.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least five years of experience managing retail or service stores.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-moving retail environment.
  • Proven skill to motivate and inspire a team to achieve and exceed performance standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for delivering outstanding client service and communication.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, peak seasons, and high-traffic retail days such as public holidays.
  • Strong team leadership capabilities, excellent people skills, and effective collaboration across departments.
