Job description
Role Overview
The Assistant Payroll Manager will take charge of comprehensive payroll and attendance management for all categories of employees, ensuring precise salary processing and upkeep of HR records compliant with statutory mandates.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee complete payroll operations along with attendance tracking for regular, contract, and leased personnel every month.
- Manage employee attendance data, leave records, punch timings, payroll inputs and promptly address payroll or attendance-related inquiries.
- Execute accurate monthly payroll processing and generate related Management Information Systems (MIS), reports, and data insights.
- Handle all employee lifecycle processes including onboarding formalities, entering data into SAP and Ascent tools, PF/ESIC registration, issuing offer and appointment letters, and maintaining employee documents.
- Maintain both digital and physical employee personal files along with HR Information System records.
- Administer employee information within systems like SAP, Ascent, and HIT efficiently.
- Ensure timely compliance with statutory obligations such as Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Gratuity, Bonus, Mediclaim, and related legal requirements.
- Stay informed about updates in Maharashtra labour regulations including the Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, and relevant wage notifications.
- Evaluate how amendments in minimum wages and statutory rules affect payroll, salary structure, and employee benefits, implementing necessary adjustments accordingly.
- Maintain adherence to statutory labour laws, manage records as per the Factories Act, and facilitate audits and inspections.
- Provide employee support regarding insurance matters and conduct training sessions for new hires covering payroll, attendance policies, PF, ESIC, and medical insurance schemes.
- Communicate changes pertaining to HR policies, payroll practices, and statutory benefits to ensure smooth and prompt adoption.
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive payroll and HR operations knowledge.
- Practical experience with SAP for HR processes.
- Sound understanding of Maharashtra-specific labour laws, the Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficient in HRIS system management and generating management reports.
- Ability to design and manage salary structures effectively.
- Strong analytical capabilities and excellent communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess an MBA or PGDM in Human Resources and have at least 7 years of pertinent experience in payroll management, HR operations, and compliance functions.
