About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Mechanical Design Engineer to join our design and engineering team located at Vasanthanarasapura industrial area, Tumkur. This full-time opportunity involves working closely with senior engineers to develop, modify, and document mechanical product designs while coordinating with manufacturing and other technical departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers in the creation of new product and component designs.
- Develop and revise 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models as per specifications.
- Produce comprehensive manufacturing and assembly drawings, ensuring correct dimensions and tolerances.
- Support design calculations, select materials, and specify component requirements.
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Incorporate engineering updates and maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.
- Coordinate with production, quality assurance, purchasing, and related departments on design matters.
- Assist in prototype development, testing, and design validation activities.
- Identify design problems and implement corrective measures as needed.
- Maintain engineering documentation including Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings and revision records.
- Adhere to company engineering standards, safety protocols, and quality guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Diploma or bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in mechanical or product design preferred; candidates with relevant CAD skills but no experience may also be considered.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.
- Foundational knowledge of engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings accurately.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Technical Knowledge
- Experience or knowledge in sheet metal work, fabrication, machining, or assembly processes.
- Acquaintance with preparation of Bills of Materials (BOM) and engineering change management.
- Basic understanding of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA), and quality standards.
- Familiarity with ERP, Product Data Management (PDM), or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
