Role Overview

The Assistant Manager position is a full-time onsite role based at the Skibbereen location. The individual in this role supports daily store operations by supervising team members, managing shift schedules, and ensuring excellent customer service. This role involves inventory management, coordinating deliveries, maintaining store cleanliness and appearance, handling customer queries and complaints, assisting with cash management, preparing basic reports, and supporting promotional efforts. The Assistant Manager collaborates with the store Manager to enforce company policies, maintain health and safety standards, and nurture a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and provide supervision for team members.
  • Organize staff scheduling and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality customer service.
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate incoming deliveries.
  • Maintain store presentation and cleanliness at all times.
  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly and resolve any issues.
  • Assist with cash handling and generating basic operational reports.
  • Support promotional activities and campaigns.
  • Implement and uphold health and safety policies and company guidelines.
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful, and motivating working environment.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working in retail, hospitality, or other customer-facing roles with strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to lead or supervise a small team, including task delegation and staff motivation.
  • Basic administrative capabilities such as scheduling, inventory control, and accurate handling of cash transactions.
  • Ability to work full time onsite in Skibbereen, showing flexibility for weekends, holidays, and busy periods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, reliability, and a proactive attitude toward store standards and customer service.
  • Comfort using point-of-sale systems and basic computer software, with openness to learning new systems.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, nondiscriminatory workplace that complies with health and safety regulations.
  • Previous experience in assistant management or supervisory roles is a plus, along with any business, retail, or hospitality-related qualifications or training.
