Job description

About the Role and Company

Panda Express, part of the Panda Restaurant Group, is seeking experienced leaders to join their store management team. As the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the U.S. with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, Panda is dedicated to nurturing the professional and personal development of its employees. This commitment is reflected in paid Store Management Leadership Training, mentorship, and ongoing support from a caring community.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As an Assistant Manager, you will support operations of a single restaurant store. Your responsibilities include recruiting, managing, and leading associates to meet financial objectives and ensure exceptional customer experiences. Making the store successful is your key goal. Extensive leadership training lasting at least three weeks is provided to prepare you for this role.

Desired Qualifications and Expectations

  • Possession of a high school diploma is required.
  • Flexibility to relocate within a 50-mile radius of the current location is necessary.
  • Availability to work adaptable schedules including opening and closing shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business demands.
  • The company considers religious accommodation requests for scheduling on a case-by-case basis.
  • Certification in Food Safety (Serve Safe) is mandatory.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The workspace can be hot with exposure to steam and food vapors, and employees typically stand for extended periods. Tasks include food preparation utilizing kitchen tools such as Chinese cook knives, requiring speed and accuracy. Employees must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for up to four hours, and reaching across 36-inch counters. The environment involves high noise levels, limited storage space, and is fast-paced, demanding strong verbal communication skills and adaptability to changing priorities. Managing conflicts and difficult situations effectively is also essential.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive pay ranging from $24 to $27 per hour, with exact pay dependent on location and experience.
  • Free meals during shifts.
  • Comprehensive medical benefits including vision, dental, voluntary short-term disability, and cancer income protection insurance for full-time employees.
  • Pre-Tax Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account.
  • 401K retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement leave, and a Leave Share Program.
  • Discounts on theme parks, gym memberships, and other perks.
  • Opportunities to contribute to community service.
  • Paid hands-on training and ongoing career and leadership development, including access to education assistance and scholarships.
  • Associate referral bonuses.
  • Income protection through Disability, Life, and AD&D insurance.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Panda Restaurant Group is committed to equal opportunity employment and does not discriminate based on protected characteristics such as gender, race, disability, age, or veteran status. The company complies fully with ADA regulations and offers reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees as necessary.
