About the Role
Join the passionate team at MOTAT's Walsh Memorial Library, situated at the Great North Road site since 1964. The library holds an extensive array of items forming the Publications Collections, including published works, archival materials, documentary heritage, images, and oral histories.
Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Librarian focused on Publications, your duties will include meticulously sorting and cataloguing the published titles within the library's holdings. You will evaluate and advise on the acquisition and removal of publications. Assisting with research requests submitted by MOTAT staff and visitors will also be part of your role.
Work Schedule & Conditions
This is a permanent full-time position working Monday through Friday, with occasional Sunday Live Days requiring your attendance, compensated by an alternative day off during the same week.
Candidate Profile
Applicants must have at least two years of library experience and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Studies, Museum Studies, or a related heritage discipline. A solid knowledge of proper handling and preservation of publications is essential. High proficiency in computer skills and familiarity with collection management software—preferably Vernon CMS—is required. Excellent communication and customer service skills are vital for success in this position.
