Job description
Position Overview
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) welcomes applications from qualified Ghanaian candidates who are results-oriented, possess strong leadership skills, and demonstrate enthusiasm for the role of Assistant Head, Assets, Estate and Procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in formulating and executing policies for effective asset management.
- Maintain detailed and current asset records, including tagging and valuation procedures.
- Oversee asset usage, upkeep, and disposal ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular audits of all organizational assets.
- Manage office buildings, residential properties, and related estates including preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Participate in planning, overseeing, and managing construction, renovation, or refurbishment projects.
- Support procurement activities for goods, services, and works aligned with established policies and procedures.
- Help develop annual procurement plans and ensure their timely execution.
- Engage in bid assessments, supplier evaluation, and contract administration.
- Maintain and update supplier databases while monitoring vendor performance to ensure quality service.
- Ensure strict adherence to procurement laws, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Compile and present comprehensive reports concerning assets, estates, and procurement for management consideration.
- Provide expert advice on policy development and process improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Master's degree in Architecture, Estate Management, Building Technology, Building and Construction, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in asset management, real estate, procurement, or construction, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Age requirement: between 40 and 55 years.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, and ERP software is advantageous.
- Being a professional teacher and a member in good standing of GNAT is a plus.
- Individuals holding membership in Ghana Education Service/TVET Service should be at least Assistant Director II rank to qualify if possessing the stated qualifications and experience.
- GNAT in-service staff (teaching or non-teaching) with applicable qualifications must have a minimum of two years’ experience within the organization.
- Comprehensive understanding of procurement laws, asset management systems, and estate operations.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
