Role Overview
The Assistant Accountant is an integral part of the finance team responsible for supporting daily accounting functions to ensure accurate financial processing, timely reporting, and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable processes including supplier invoicing, invoice matching, coding, and payments
- Resolve supplier queries and perform reconciliation of supplier statements
- Conduct daily and monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly
- Prepare and post standard journal entries; assist with month-end closing and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain and update fixed asset register, process additions/disposals, and post depreciation journals; assist in asset verification and reporting
- Coordinate insurance renewals and claims, maintaining related documentation
- Handle leased vehicle records, payments, fuel card management, and reporting compliance
- Support audit, compliance efforts, financial reporting, and provide general administrative help to the finance team
- Assist with sales invoicing, stock taking, and contribute to budgeting processes
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Engage in self-development and participate actively in training programs; may conduct training for team members
- Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills, maintaining a positive and culturally sensitive approach
- Work collaboratively as a team player while showing adaptability and self-motivation
- Perform additional tasks as directed by reporting managers
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of two years of experience in an assistant accountant role
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities
- Proficient in Excel and accounting software systems
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines effectively
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
