Job description

Overview

This role involves assembling Lex's products with both mechanical and electrical components. The assembler will read technical drawings and diagrams, cut cables per specifications, connect components with point-to-point wiring, and assemble or solder electrical parts precisely as instructed. The job requires physical tasks including standing, bending, and reaching throughout the workday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, job order travelers, and pick lists to understand shop drawings.
  • Construct assemblies adhering strictly to quality and quantity standards.
  • Operate hand tools such as soldering irons, drills, saws, and wrenches.
  • Follow detailed verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions during assembly processes.
  • Repair and rework assemblies as necessary to meet specifications.
  • Adapt to working at various stations or shifting between stations during assembly.
  • Comply with all company and department policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including duties like sweeping and trash removal.
  • Regular communication with supervisors, colleagues, and team members.
  • Complete and electronically log work documentation accurately and timely using Floor Manager software.
  • Report safety concerns or observations promptly to supervisors.
  • Exercise care to complete tasks correctly on the first attempt.
  • Contribute suggestions for improving departmental performance.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and policies consistently.
  • Work overtime as required to meet production needs.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
  • Familiarity with both metric and Imperial units of measurement.
  • Demonstrated capability in assembling products to defined quality standards.
  • Preferably possesses prior experience with electrical or related product assembly.
  • Experience handling hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic mathematical skills to complete related job functions.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to changing work conditions and assignments.
