Job description

Job Summary

Reporting to the Production Manager or Shift Supervisor, the Assembler plays an essential role in producing fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) products. This role directly influences quality, safety, and meeting production deadlines by manually laminating single or double wall shells, domes, and related products following company standards.

Key Duties

  • Combine FRP components using machinery, equipment, and hand tools to cut, shape, splice, and fit plastic materials.
  • Interpret blueprints and drawings to manually laminate and assemble half-shells accurately.
  • Fit various components and accessories including fittings, template plates, and manholes.
  • Prepare and cut composite materials based on patterns to fulfill required assemblies.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on completed assemblies.
  • Frequently inspect work to ensure it meets company quality standards.
  • Accurately document process and time data within required deadlines.
  • Operate and maintain necessary equipment such as grinders, trimmers, measuring tools, and rollers.
  • Strictly adhere to health and safety regulations, proactively engage in prevention measures, and promptly report any incidents.

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school (5th secondary) or equivalent education.
  • Experience in fiberglass reinforced plastic manufacturing or similar production environment is an asset.
  • Strong fabrication and quality assurance skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a team in a dynamic production setting.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Mathematical problem-solving skills relevant to the role.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing environment or Lean principles is advantageous.
