Job Overview
Land Pride, a branch of Great Plains Manufacturing located in Abilene, KS, is hiring a 1st Shift Assembler to join their West facility team. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with additional overtime on Fridays when necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute the daily production schedule accurately and efficiently.
- Manually or with hand and portable power tools, join parts together by bolting, clipping, screwing, or cementing.
- Interpret technical prints and accurately use measuring tools like tape measures as required.
- Operate machines and tools such as impact wrenches to perform fastening or force-fitting tasks on the assembly line.
- Adapt to work at various stations according to production demands.
- Perform tasks on assembly lines where the workflow may shift with different models of the same product or remain at a fixed station.
- Observe assembly procedures critically and suggest quality improvements to the assembly/shipping manager.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations while using the mandated personal protective equipment.
- Carry out other duties as assigned that may involve different skills, physical requirements, or working conditions.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- No prior experience or formal training is necessary, but the following attributes are advantageous:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to work well within a team and embrace collaborative work ethics.
- Comfortable and competent in safely handling hand and power tools; able to read blueprints and measurement tools effectively.
- Willingness to adopt Lean Manufacturing principles and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Compliance with all Great Plains and OSHA safety standards along with the diligent use of prescribed personal protective equipment.
