About SK Energy International
SK Energy International (SKEI), a subsidiary of SK Trading International, has been active since 1990 in marketing and trading oil and petroleum products based in Singapore.
Role Overview
The Asia Middle Distillates Trader will be part of the Distillates Business Division in Singapore, reporting directly to the department head, contributing to SK Energy's commodities trading operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Trade middle distillate products and related derivatives within assigned portfolios.
- Apply structured trading methods, including hedging and risk management strategies, to control market exposure effectively.
- Create business opportunities targeting the Japanese market by identifying and developing new trading prospects.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers to maximize outcomes.
- Leverage expertise in Japanese markets to support planned market expansion.
- Perform comprehensive macro and micro market analyses to develop strategic trading models and expand trading operations based on in-depth market knowledge and global networks.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively to articulate ideas, persuade stakeholders, anticipate customer needs, and build loyalty.
- Strategically identify subtle challenges and employ problem-solving tools to resolve issues.
- Demonstrate leadership by setting clear tasks aligned with organizational goals, planning and deploying resources efficiently, understanding team strengths and weaknesses, fostering synergy and guiding others toward change and development.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field with a strong aptitude for mathematics.
- At least eight years of experience in the oil trading industry.
- Minimum of five years trading light/middle distillates involving Japanese companies or Japanese counterparties to support market expansion.
- One year or more of experience in refinery operations.
- Proficient with ETRM systems.
- Experience with refinery export processes is preferred.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities to interpret complex data and inform decision-making.
- Highly organized, motivated, exhibits strong integrity, and capable of performing well under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with effective stakeholder management and teamwork.
