AS400 Programmer

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled programmer with hands-on experience on the IBM AS400 iSeries platform, proficient in RPGLE programming. The ideal candidate will write, debug, and maintain programs using various RPG and CL languages, and will also interact with clients to gather requirements and deliver design documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and debug RPG and CL programs on the IBM AS400 system.
• Create sub-procedures, subroutines, and service programs to modularize code efficiently.
• Work extensively with Integrated Language Environment (ILE) programming.
• Manage SEU, PDM, DFU tools and generate and handle spool files.
• Utilize iSeries Navigator and the Integrated File System (IFS) for system and file management.
• Support client interactions by understanding requirements and preparing design documentation for project delivery.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Strong experience with IBM AS400 iSeries platform and RPGLE language.
• Proficiency in Integrated Language Environment (ILE) coding techniques.
• Knowledge of CL programming and debugging RPG/CL programs.
• Familiarity with SEU, PDM, DFU, and spool files on the AS400 system.
• Experience working with iSeries Navigator and Integrated File System.

Additional Advantages

• Understanding of Web Services, XML, HTML, and JavaScript technologies.

Client Handling and Communication

The candidate will be expected to liaise with clients, understand their requirements thoroughly, prepare detailed design documentation, and effectively communicate these solutions during client walkthroughs.
