Position Overview

We are seeking an Architectural Drafting Technologist to join our team in a fully on-site capacity. The role involves creating detailed and precise drawings that align with client visions while adhering strictly to the 2020 National Building Code and related municipal and provincial regulations. This position demands a passion for drafting, exceptional attention to detail, and the capability to manage several projects concurrently without compromising quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Create accurate 2D and 3D drawings and models using software tools like AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp, progressing from concepts through to construction-ready documentation.
• Guarantee all drawings comply with the National Building Code and other relevant regulations to ensure smooth permit approvals.
• Convert client instructions and design concepts into clear technical drawings, maintaining regular communication to verify that outputs reflect client expectations.
• Effectively multitask by handling multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and budgets while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
• Collaborate with clients, internal teams, contractors, and municipal authorities to address revisions, permit inquiries, or code compliance issues.
• Produce visual renderings using Lumion, 3ds Max, or Photoshop to aid clients in visualizing projects pre-construction.
• Conduct thorough quality assurance on drawings to ensure dimensional accuracy and consistency alongside conformity to drafting standards.
• Maintain organized documentation practiced under confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements.
• Stay updated on updates to the National Building Code and drafting software to continuously enhance compliance and efficiency.
• Participate actively in weekly team meetings.

Candidate Requirements

• At least 3-5 years’ experience as an Architectural Drafting Technologist.
• Deep understanding of the National Building Code.
• Strong communication skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Well-organized with proven capability to juggle multiple projects efficiently.
• Ability to produce permit-approval-ready drawings.
• Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Architectural Drafting or a closely related program.

Additional Details

The role is based entirely onsite at our Bedford Hwy office, operating during business hours, 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Compensation ranges hourly between $35.00 and $40.00.
