Job description

Job Overview

This role involves advanced skills in application packaging and deployment, essential for ensuring compatibility and smooth installation across multiple Windows operating systems. The candidate will be proficient with various packaging tools and scripting languages, and able to manage virtual build environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain application packages using Admin Studio, Install Shield, Wise, and similar tools.
  • Create and modify scripts in VB, WMI, Batch, PowerShell, and use the PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit for automation.
  • Conduct comprehensive application testing and apply remediation strategies to ensure compatibility with Windows 7, 8, and 10, utilizing tools like ACT.
  • Utilize virtualization platforms such as VMware Workstation and Oracle Virtual Box for creating and testing virtual builds.
  • Handle Windows Installer technologies with expertise in MSI packaging including tables, custom actions, and standard actions.
  • Work with application virtualization technologies including App-V versions 4.6, 5.0, and 5.1, and have foundational knowledge of MSIX packaging.
  • Perform troubleshooting using diagnostic utilities such as FileMon, RegMon, and PictureTaker.
  • Develop merge modules and customize packaging solutions as needed.
  • Understand IT infrastructure and client-server applications to better support packaging and deployment.
  • Possess a strong understanding of Windows operating systems, including servers and desktops, focusing on registry, file systems, service packs, patches, installation, and uninstallation processes.
  • Create packages suitable for Terminal Server environments.
  • Coordinate with customers, proactively resolve issues during User Acceptance Testing (UAT), especially break/fix scenarios.
  • Demonstrate expertise in application compatibility testing and remediation techniques.
  • Utilize Citrix AppDNA for analyzing compatibility issues and interpreting reports.
  • Track application packaging progress, generate weekly status reports, and engage in management communication.
