Job description

About EnerVenue

EnerVenue is a pioneering energy infrastructure company based in Silicon Valley that commercializes metal-hydrogen battery technology developed by NASA for space missions like the Hubble Space Telescope. Founded in 2020 by Stanford Professor Yi Cui, EnerVenue adapts this aerospace-grade battery chemistry for large-scale terrestrial grid storage, offering batteries that last beyond 30,000 cycles with intrinsic fire safety and a 30-year design lifespan.

With a $300 million Series B funding round completed in 2026, EnerVenue is investing in a large-scale manufacturing plant in Changzhou, China, aiming for a capacity of 250 MWh by Q3 2026 and scaling up to 1 GWh by 2027. The company was recognized as one of Time magazine's Top 10 US Green Technology Companies of 2025.

Role Overview

This role targets an experienced Energy Storage Applications Engineer to serve as a vital link between EnerVenue's advanced energy storage tech and its practical implementation, focusing on the Middle East, based remotely in Saudi Arabia. The engineer will convert client needs into optimized system designs, verify system performance for various applications, and ensure solutions yield tangible benefits in deployment. This position supports commercial functions including sales, marketing, product, and engineering through system modeling, integration advice, and technical sales assistance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead technical pre-sales activities by partnering with sales teams throughout deal qualification to contract closure, translating client needs and financial targets into technically and commercially sound storage systems.
  • Conduct technical discovery to outline duty cycles, performance guarantees, system augmentations, and integration prerequisites.
  • Develop comprehensive energy storage models estimating lifespan, efficiency, degradation, availability, and returns on investment.
  • Craft detailed technical proposals and bids, including system sizing, single-line diagrams, and compliance documents.
  • Collaborate with sales to promptly respond to RFPs and technical inquiries and provide technical leadership in customer meetings and negotiations.
  • Create standardized analytical tools and frameworks to enhance proposal speed, consistency, and success rates.
  • Oversee customer-facing documentation and collaborate with engineering teams to prepare technical materials for project proposals.
  • Design or review system layouts, electrical schematics, containerization solutions, and guarantees regarding performance and availability.
  • Work with marketing to generate clear technical content such as application notes, whitepapers, case studies, aligning engineering advantages with target market segments like utilities, commercial and industrial sectors, and microgrids.
  • Provide technical insights for product launches, events, and thought leadership content.
  • Act as the communication bridge between commercial teams and product/engineering groups to ensure customer needs shape product roadmaps and support commissioning readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Power, Energy Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of advancing experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems covering design, applications, integration, sales support, and servicing.
  • Proven capability designing large multi-megawatt energy storage systems with thorough understanding of both AC and DC system design principles.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge from battery cell electrochemistry to utility-scale battery system operations.
  • Expertise in secondary battery chemistries, degradation, system configurations, and operational limits under various duty conditions.
  • Hands-on experience with balance-of-system components such as inverters, transformers, combiner boxes, DC/DC converters, EMS, and battery management systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70, IEEE 1547, UL 9540/1741) relevant to PV and energy storage projects.
  • Knowledge of grid interconnection and certification standards pertinent to Saudi Arabia and the GCC, including Saudi Electricity Company and SASO/GSO requirements.
  • Understanding of construction, commissioning, and commissioning processes of energy storage and PV projects.
  • Experience specifying equipment suited for high-temperature ambient conditions.
  • Ability to analyze operational data statistically and generate clear, actionable technical reports.
  • Understanding of commercial contract frameworks, performance guarantees, and support of technical assumptions for contractual obligations.
  • Familiarity with competitor products and ability to articulate EnerVenue’s technical differentiators effectively.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, product management, sales, marketing, and field operations.
  • Capacity to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and ensure accountability for deliverables.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, both spoken and written, capable of leading technical discussions and presentations in both languages.
  • Location in Saudi Arabia with remote working capability and legal right to work in the Kingdom.
  • Availability for 10–20% travel to support customer engagements, project development, site validation, and industry events.

Core Competencies

  • Deep, broad technical expertise spanning from cell-level electrochemistry to grid-scale system design and modeling.
  • Pre-sales proficiency with ability to convert technical knowledge into commercially compelling and contract-compliant proposals.
  • Professional accountability, reliable communication, and composure under demanding customer-facing situations.

Desirable Qualities

  • Skilled at bridging engineering and commercial teams to drive growth and improve customer confidence.
  • Application-centric thinker focusing on real-world duty profiles and compliance with NEC, IEEE, UL, and other global standards.
  • Commercially aware, with understanding of contractual risk and bankability in technical proposals.
  • Informed about market competitors and standards to position products effectively.
  • Thrives under pressure with strong discipline to meet deadlines while producing high-quality work.
  • Innovative and forward-looking, anticipating new grid demands, use cases, and business models.

Benefits

  • Lead the end-to-end technical application engineering for disruptive, long-duration metal-hydrogen energy storage in the Middle East, a critical growth region.
  • Direct coordination with manufacturing and product engineering teams for joint roadmap development.
  • Competitive compensation comprising base salary and performance bonuses tied to bid success and project wins.
  • Mid-level technical leadership backed by leading global investors with a robust expansion plan in China.
  • Opportunity to contribute to mission-driven development of 30-year service-life grid storage equipment.
  • Comprehensive technical training, access to global electrochemical research and field data, plus funding for regional conferences and certifications.
