Position Overview

WMTW-TV, an ABC affiliate located in Westbrook, Maine, is seeking a dynamic Anchor/Reporter who combines the energy of live reporting with a strong on-air presence. This role requires someone who not only commands credibility and poise but also embraces field reporting to break exclusive stories. Responsibilities include writing and editing scripts with a focus on viewer engagement, mentoring producers and reporters, and maintaining versatility under tight deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver both scripted and spontaneous news segments with professionalism and engaging personality.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to reporters and producers during newscast preparation and execution.
  • Plan and assemble news stories daily or for special projects, ensuring unique and in-depth coverage.
  • Collaborate with news managers and producers to craft stories featuring exclusive content and investigative angles.
  • Build and maintain a network of sources that provide timely tips and early access to significant information.
  • Represent the station at public functions and community events.
  • Contribute multimedia updates, including photos, videos, and text, to mobile platforms throughout the day.
  • Manage multiple stories and projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Summarize complex information into clear and understandable segments for viewers.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years anchoring and reporting experience each.
  • A demo reel that accurately reflects daily work and on-air style.
  • Ability to connect with viewers as an anchor, supplemented by strong reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with mobile transmission technology and modern broadcasting tools.
  • Capacity to work under various weather conditions and shifts, including overnights and weekends, with the ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong commitment to journalistic ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to thrive under the pressures of time-sensitive newscast environments.
  • Relevant military experience will be considered an asset.
